Study Outlines
The BMSC examinations test your practical ability to code typical specialty encounters and deal with typical specialty issues. Our goal isn't to “stump” you with trick questions on procedures you will likely never see in your office or facility, but rather to ensure – for you and for your employer – that you have, in fact, achieved advanced proficiency in your chosen areas.
Content outlines for each examination are available for most certification exams. Each identifies the types of coding and reimbursement issues, surgical procedures and the like that you can expect to encounter on the actual examination.

You’ll only need one study guide to help you prepare for your Specialty Coding Professional (SCP)* or Advanced Coding Specialist (ACS) examination. Each study guide (with the exception of Evaluation and Management for physician practices) includes practice questions and a study outline for both the Board of Medical Specialty Coding certification exams.
